About Us
Funky Roots operates on Traditional, Unceded Syilx Territory.
The Syilx Okanagan people are the First Nations that have lived in the Okanagan territory since time immemorial. Their ancestral territory spans across the interior of British Columbia and the United States

At Funky Roots, we utilize the power of nature and its healing properties. Our teas are handcrafted in small batches and honours the gifts from each plant. By creating small tea batches, we can adjust our recipes to reflect what was in abundance that year. Our goal is to work with nature instead of working against it. Before each harvest, we make offerings to the plants as a way to acknowledge them as living beings. It is in the spirit of reciprocity to Mother Earth and sustainability that is the foundation of all that we do.

About the Owner
Haley Cundy is the sole owner and operator of Funky Roots. She is of Hungarian and British descendants and is a lover of nature. Haley has spent the last five years learning about local plants from family, friends, and Indigenous Elders. In 2024, she decided it was time to share her passion for local plants through tea blending. Thus Funky Roots was born. The name comes from Haleys love of funk music, and that most plant nutrients can be found in the roots. In the future, Haley plans to purchase land to grow herbs, raise bees, and run workshops to share plant knowledge.
